Philippians 1:29-30 tells us that Christians are not only to believe, but to also suffer for Christ’s sake. What are the implications?

ONWARD CHRISTIAN SOLDIERS
By: Sabine Baring-Gould
Onward, Christian soldiers,
Marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus
Going on before.
Christ, the royal Master,
Leads against the foe;
Forward into battle
See His banners go!
REFRAIN:
Onward, Christian soldiers,
Marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus
Going on before.
Like a mighty army
Moves the Church of God;
Brothers, we are treading
Where the saints have trod.
We are not divided,
All one body we,
One in hope and doctrine,
One in charity.
REFRAIN: (see above)
Crowns and thrones may perish,
Kingdoms rise and wane,
But the Church of Jesus
Constant will remain.
Gates of hell can never
‘gainst that Church prevail;
We have Christ’s own promise,
And that cannot fail.
REFRAIN (see above)
Onward, then, ye people,
Join our happy throng,
Blend with ours your voices
In the triumph song;
Glory, laud, and honor
Unto Christ, the king;
This through countless ages
Men and angels sing.
REFRAIN (see above)
I sang that song also! What happened to that song. I have to ask our worship team.
Many of our Christian brothers and sisters in other countries are already experiencing this battlefield of suffering persecution for their faith – some to the point of death. And yet many people today in the U.S. feel inconvenienced and upset by having to stand in line at the grocery store or backed up in traffic. I’m reminded of the words from a song, “Everybody Wants To Go To Heaven — But Nobody Wants to Die”. ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nnqJpYVY2ao ) Most of us want to experience the joys and benefits of a comfortable life in this world and the security of eternal life in heaven with God. But we don’t want to die to self while living here on earth.
Thank you, Pastor James Pittman, I need to be reminded of this message in your video again and again – especially in light of what I see happening in our country and around the world. For anyone else out there, look into what the Chinese Social Credit Score system is; from what I understand, it won’t be long before there are those who will implement it in the U.S. — and I’m not talking about decades from now. Like any soldier, we need to prepare our hearts and minds so that we are not caught off-guard. I like how you exhorted us at the end if this video, “Christian, you were born on the battlefield; now battle.”
