Pastor James and Jay Thompson have an interesting conversation about whether or not Dan Orlovsky should have prayed for the healing of Damar Hamlin on television. As usual, Pr. James takes a minority view…a very tiny minority view. This discussion may surprise you!

I am half and half on this. I think he didn’t mention Jesus because of the Network. He was nervous, you could tell in his voice. However, Hebrews 4:16…Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
I could not pray boldly if all I was thinking of is their or even my sins.
But do you run from naming His name?

That prayer was great… BUT saying ‘god’ is ok you can get away with that today… it’s the name of Jesus that the devil hates! He didn’t say Gods name… he didn’t say Yashua he didn’t say Jesus… who we pray to matters! Benjamin Watson spoke years ago on some net work, and when he started talking about sin and Jesus, they cut him off. More recently however, relating to this subject he spoke with Anderson Cooper and (I didn’t hear all of it) but he did mention Jesus! That’s what matters! Jesus saves! It is on the name of Jesus we must call!

I agree with James. I noticed right off he said “in your name,” but didn’t say the name! So I think he caved right at the end. The pressure against saying “Jesus” on espn was too much. He was where Peter was the night of Jesus’ arrest. Forgivable, but he dropped the ball. I don’t think we need to be too hard him, though. I’ve caved before, and ask God to strengthen me for next time.

I wish when Pastor James asks his guests (Jay Thompson in this instance) to speak, he would not interrupt them. It comes across as rudeness and distracts the listener (myself in this case) from listening accurately to either one’s “case”. Even in the second time telling Jay he would have the last word, James interrupted him. Although Pastor James sees the situation as I do, Jay came across as more gracious in this discussion. I believe they could both learn a little from each other here.

Don’t pray for the healing of the world…pray “Thy kingdom come”
